Day Trips
  • Kohler Design Center
  • Interior-design mavens should make a pilgrimage to the Kohler Design Center, in the town of Kohler, about an hour north on I-43. Take the factory tour, and leave time to linger in the Designer Showcase, where famous designers display inventive kitchen and bath ideas using Kohler fixtures. Afterward, bring your home-spa fantasy to life with some pampering at the Kohler Water Spa, located across the way in the American Club.
Local Food
Don't leave the Dairy State without sampling the cheese. Milwaukee has plenty of farmers' markets during the warmer months, great places to pick up locally made cheeses and fresh produce. Wisconsin is part of the fruit belt that surrounds Lake Michigan, so summer and fall yield bushels of apples, pears, grapes, strawberries, and cherries. Check locally for a pick-your-own orchard.
