Day Trips
  • Washington, DC is an obvious choice, being only 39 miles away. The nation's capital has endless museums and historical sites to visit, not to mention a thriving gay scene of its own.
  • For something slightly different, check out Annapolis, Maryland's state capital. Home to the US Naval Academy, this town bustles with cute recruits in sparkling white uniforms. Rent a boat if you're feeling adventurous, or enjoy a water-based tour of the Chesapeake Bay. A walking tour will acquaint you with the rich history of the area, along with all the wonderful shopping and dining Annapolis has to offer.
  • Chocoholics might want to make the 90-mile drive to Hershey, PA, the “sweetest place on earth.” With Hershey Park and Chocolate World to visit, look for lots of kids, a little kitsch, and a free sample or two.
Local Food
While any kind of seafood is bound to be fresh and tasty here, crab is the local specialty. Crab cakes are everywhere, and the daring should check out a crab feast, where fresh crab in the shell are served by the dozen-half the fun is using nut crackers and mallets to release the sweet meat. Not for the faint of heart, and don't wear your Sunday best!
